26 year-old Mixed Martial Arts fighter Jarrod Wyatt has been charged with first degree murder for the brutal death of his friend Taylor Powell. Jarrod allegedly cut an 18-inch hole in Taylor’s chest and removed his heart, tongue and most of his face, claiming Taylor was possessed by Satan..

Jarrod was under the influence of psychedelic drugs and believed the apocalypse, the ultimate fight between God and devil was near. Sgt. Elwood Lee, who responded to the scene, said that Jarrod told him “Satan was in that dude.” Jarrod also confessed to have cooked the body parts in a wood stove because he thought Taylor was still alive.

Jarrod, Taylor and two other friends had drunk hallucinogenic mushroom tea prior to the incident. Billy Jo Bailey, Jarrod’s ex-girlfriend, who was at the scene, said that Taylor’s behavior changed after they drank the tea. The defense lawyer is calling the incident a psychotic break, saying his client had no control of his actions.
