Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres announced her departure from the show after just one season on Thursday (July 29) – read statement here. And Kara DioGuardi was FIRED. Yep, Kara will be replaced by pop star Jennifer Lopez, who has reportedly been begging for a gig on the show for months.

And the new judges of American Idol are… (*drumroll*) Randy Jackson, the only survivor, singer/actress Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith’s frontman Steven Tyler. Steven will replace Simon Cowell.
