Liam Neeson’s new action/adventure The Grey opened at #1 at the box office this past weekend. It was followed by Underworld Awakening and One For The Money to round out the top 3 films.

“The Artist” and “The Descendants” lead the pack of nominees. Nine movies are nominated for Best Picture, including George Clooney’s “The Descendants” and Brad Pitt’s “Moneyball”. The two BFF actors will also battle in the Best Actor category.

Actress Jennifer Lawrence, the star of the highly anticipated movie “The Hunger Games,” is set to announce the nominees for the 84th Annual Academy Awards live from the headquarters of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles, California on Tuesday (January 24).

The 10-minute announcement ceremony starts at 8:30 am ET/5:30 am PT. The 2012 Oscars ceremony will air live on ABC from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, California at 7 pm ET on February 26, 2012.

Sixth Sense child star Haley Joel Osment is all grown up and ready to return to the big screen with a new role in a comedy titled “Sassy Pants,” which is set to premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on January 28, 2012 (watch trailer below).

Awkward’s Ashley Rickards is Bethany Pruitt, a homeschooled student oppressed by mother June, played by Anna Gunn, and father Dale, played by Diedrich Bader. The now 23 year-old “Sixth Sense” actor will play a stereotypical gay best friend, who is dating her gay father.

Haley Joel is making quite a bold move by attempting to return with such a controversial and stereotypical character. Is it a good decision? By the way, I hate that haircut.

“The silence will kill you.” That seems to be a damn good movie if horror is your thing. Plus, the movie is inspired by a true story that happened in the 1940’s in a small village in Uruguay.

“Silent House” will hit theaters in the US on March 9, 2012.

Spielberg said, “It’s a very prestigious honour because they represent an entirely new era in British royalty that has the entire world excited. When they came to America, that was one of the most exciting events, I think, that we’ve enjoyed for some time, so it’s such an honour to be here in the UK to be able to meet them and to be able to show them, and all of us, War Horse.”

Here is the first look at actress Amanda Seyfried as porn star Linda Boreman (known as Linda Lovelace) with her husband Chuck Traynor (actor Peter Sarsgaard) in the upcoming biopic “Lovelace.”

Linda Boreman was best known staring in one of the first mainstream X-rated movies, “Deep Throat”, back in 1972. Later in life, Linda claimed her husband forced her star in several porn movies by beating her and threatening her at gunpoint. She died at the age of 53 (in 2002) after a car accident.

“Lovelace” directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman is still currently in production and doesn’t have a release date. The cast also counts with big names like Sharon Stone and Demi Moore.

“The Paperboy focuses on a reporter (McConaughey) and his brother (Efron) who investigate the events surrounding a murder in order to free a man on death row, portrayed by Cusack. Kidman plays woman with a dark side who writes letters to men in prison, and brings the case of Cusack’s inmate to the attention of the brothers.”

Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara was originally slated to play Kidman’s role but had to drop out due to scheduling issues.

The film is set to hit theatres in 2012.
